INFORMATION SHEET
The CYAA Cheerleading Program has been in
existence for almost 15 years and has provided thousands of girls the
opportunity to cheer. The goals of CYAA are:
-
To cheer for CYAA Football and
provide a real game atmosphere for players, cheerleaders and spectators
-
To give any child the
opportunity to cheer
-
To stress safety, conditioning
and good sportsmanship while developing basic fundamentals and techniques
upon which to build for cheering beyond CYAA

Pee Wee- 3rd and 4th graders
Juniors- 5th and 6th graders

size ranges from 10-12 but varies by division and depends upon registration
and the number of football teams. In 2005, there were 10 squads in the Flag
Division, 8 squads in the Pee Wee Division and 6 squads in the Junior
Division.
REGISTRATION
For the 2006 year, registration will take place on April 29th,
May 2nd, and May 6th at the Collierville Community Center. Anyone
registering after May 15th will be subject to a late registration fee of
$25.00. Starting this season, if your child cheered the year before and they
will be moving up to another division- your child will automatically be
assigned to the same team in that upper division. Please let us know if
your child wishes to cheer for another team. Also, we will be accepting
requests. You can list your request on the registration form. Please note
that a parent or guardian must sign the registration form.
COSTS
The
2006 registration fee is $125.00. Anyone registering who is not a
resident of the town of Collierville will be assessed an
additional fee of $30.00.
This fee is paid to the city and will not be retained or used by CYAA.
This years
registration fee covers CYAA fees, supplemental liability insurance,
administrative costs, coachs fees and training, cheerleading camp and the
Cheer Celebration program. Cheer Camp for the 2006 season as well as the
location, will be announced at a later date. T-shirts and
shorts will be sold at registration.
New uniform costs are approximately
$165.00. Used uniforms will be available this year for most squads.
Fittings for new uniforms will be announced at a later date. Your sponsors
will inform you of your teams fitting date and time. Also, each child will
be required to contribute $25 to the
team fund. The sponsors will collect this money at the beginning of
the season. This fund will be used to purchase the extras that the team
agrees on such as hair ribbons, pom bags, ponchos, banners, etc.
TIME COMMITMENT
Other than uniform fittings in May, no squad activities will take place
prior to cheer camp. The season ends with the Cheer Celebration. The time
commitment varies by division and squad. In addition to games that are
played, the squads will also have weekly practices. Most squads will
practice 1-2 times per week with practices being no longer than 2 hours.
The various sponsors and coaches determine practice times and locations.
CHEER BOARD AND SPONSORS
The CYAA Cheerleading Program is the responsibility of the President and a
six person Board who manages the program. They are elected to a 3-year
term. The Cheer Board is assisted by its Sponsors in administrating the
program activities. This program is run totally by volunteers. We welcome
you to volunteer by letting one of the Board members know of your interest.
We hope you have a
fantastic 2006!
