Tara Oaks Park Development������������

development of the proposed Tara Oaks neighborhood park.� Phase I includes irrigation, backstops,
Greenbelt connections, and signage for $25,000.� Phase II is the playground renovation and expansion.

Greenbelt System����������������������������������
- This is the annual
construction and renovation of the Greenbelt System.� This project provides new trail
sections, repair of existing trails, signage, bridges, and lights.
- For FY03 the budgeted
money will be used to design the system along the Nonconnah Parkway to
connect to Shelby County�s proposed trail and for signage along the
current trail system.
- FY 2004 and 2006 -
staff has requested a grant for�
$945,000 from the Transportation Enhancement Program to build this
section of the greenbelt.

on 7/24/02 from the State for $703,699

- This project is for the
design and construction of restroom and pavilion buildings
- This project is being
funded by a CDBG grant administered by Shelby County.� This project will begin once the
Starlight Cove/Center St. project is completed.� The remaining CDBG funds from that project will then be used
to build the pavilion/restroom buildings for this project.

Powell Road Park Soccer Parking Lot Expansion����
- This project includes the
expansion of approximately 154 parking spaces at the Powell Road Park
Soccer Complex.� The Towns staff
will handle layout and design.
- Approximately 49,500
square feet.
- $25,000 will be funded
by the General Fund and an additional $30,000 will be from a donation from
the CYAA Soccer Association

W.C. Johnson Park Expansion�����������
- This project is phased
construction of a six-field baseball/softball complex, located west of the
present complex.� Phase I is the
engineering/design with grading, drainage, and site work including access
to be completed in FY 02.� Phase II
will begin in the spring of FY 02 and includes the construction of four
fields, parking, and concession/restroom building.� Phase III will begin in the summer of
2002.� This phase will include additional
parking, two additional fields, and a satellite maintenance operation shop.
- As part of the parkland
dedication of the Wolf River Ranch residential development, the Town will
receive 28 acres of parkland directly adjacent to W.C. Johnson Park to
build this facility.
- Budget for FY02 was
$720,000, FY03 is $850,000, and projected budget for FY04 is
$1,095,000.� Budget Amendment
approved 12/9/02 for $100,000.�
Total project budget to date is $3,227,464.
- Design contract
approved 7/23/01 for $236,600; Purchase of 29.52 acres of land approved on
4/22/02 for $832,464; Resolution 2002-20 approved on 5/13/02 to amend Wolf
River Ranch PUD to allow land to be used for parkland; Site Work &
Grading approved on 8/12/02 for $543,481.29; Asphalt paving approved on
10/28/02 for $97,757.10; Budget amendment approved on 10/30/02 for
$725,000 moving money from Parkland Dedication to the CIP budget;
Concession/Restroom and Athletic Field Lighting approved on 10/30/02 for

Community Center Expansion
- This project is the construction
of a 20,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose addition for indoor recreation,
conventions, exhibits, or similar community functions.� The new construction will include three
multi-purpose courts and exercise areas.�
The renovations will take place in FY 06 and include a new HVAC
system and reprogramming of existing space in the gymnasium.
- FY02 = $150,000; FY03 =
$1,900,000
- Construction should
begin sometime in FY03 with a total project cost of approximately
$3,450,000 over the life of the project.
- Board approved a design
contract on 3/25/02 for $30,000 plus 6% of the total construction cost.

Skate/Bike Park
- This project is the
construction of a Skate/Bike Park with approximately 12,000 sq. ft.
surface and 15 stations.� This will
be located at Powell Rd. Park next to the existing tennis courts.� The foundation will be laid out so that
future tennis courts could be built if the skate park were to move to W.C.
Johnson Park in the future.
