Mission Statement: The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Advisory Board is to provide representation for the citizens of the Town of Collierville in partnership with the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and the Mayor and Board of Alderman in promoting understanding, appreciation, participation and support for open spaces, parks, recreational opportunities, cultural activities, programs and facilities.
PURPOSE/DUTIES/AUTHORITY OF BOARD: To plan & promote a system of park & recreation facilities & recreational programs, interpret the community recreation program & needs of public officials & the general citizenship, serve as a forum in the introduction of innovative new ideas, concepts, programs, policies & procedures, assist in matters relating to the maintaining of the highest standards in park/recreation leadership and in the quality of the program service, assist the park/recreation department in recruiting voluntary leadership staff to work with park/recreation programs & activities, assist the park/recreation staff in evaluating recreation programs & activities & in developing program priorities, review & develop a program of park & recreational facility & program expansion & forward to the Board of Mayor & Alderman, develop a long range recreational plan for the Town & recommend properties and/or facilities & to evaluate & make recommendations to the BMA on the maintenance & utilization of all buildings & physical facilities devoted to park & recreational programs within the Town.

The purpose of these Standards is to provide a framework by which youth sports programs are designed and executed. These National Standards for Youth Sports place in motion a national policy for youth sports.
PURPOSE/DUTIES/AUTHORITY
Develop, promote, assist and coordinate the arts in the Town of Collierville and surrounding areas; to perform other charitable services for the benefit of the Town of Collierville and surrounding areas; and, to do any and all things allowable under the Tennessee Non-Profit Corporation Act. Collierville Arts Council is a not-for-profit, tax exempt organization under IRC 501(c)3; donations are tax deductible.
If you or your corporation would like to make a tax deductible contribution to the Collierville Arts Council to help support the arts in the Collierville area and continue the fine programming at the Harrell Performing Arts Theatre, please contact Wayne Warren at 901-457-2780.

Note: This Board was formed August 26, 1985. Regular meeting are on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at 440 West Powell Road. Staff point of contact: Wayne Warren - 901-457-2780.
Special Requirements: One (1) member of Parks Advisory Board shall serve on the Arts Council. There should be at least nine (9) members on the Board. Members cannot be Town employees. Members shall be residents of, or own property in, the Town of Collierville and/or surrounding areas. The Board of Alderman, jointly with the Mayor, has appointment authority for the Arts Council.
