JUNIOR CLINICS
SPRING PROGRAM DATES: MARCH 22 – MAY 14 (8 WEEKS) Register by March 16th!
MONDAY’S AND/OR THURSDAY’S SCHEDULE (Cox Park Courts 1 – 4):
4:45 -5:30 p.m. ~ K-1st Grade (USTA Quick Start Format) This program uses modified tennis balls: this enables the student to achieve much greater success in controlling the ball and learning the basic skills than any other tennis program.
5:30 – 6:30 p.m. ~ 2nd – 4th Grade Beginner & Intermediate This class is separated on the courts by ability level. A combination of Quick Start and Full court tennis instruction will prepare the beginners for match play and the intermediates for tournament/school team play.
6:30 – 7:30 p.m. ~ 5th – 8th Grade Beginner & Tournament Players This class is separated on the courts by ability level. A combination of Quick Start and Full court tennis instruction will prepare the beginners for match play and the intermediates for tournament/school team play.
*Note: High School age groups can contact Tony Cherone at 488-2985 or MJ Garnett at 568-0472 to schedule individual instruction or possible group instruction. Fees based on individual or small group instruction.
Fee: $128 for one day a week/$256 for two days a week. Late fee: $30 per applicant after March 16th. All paperwork/registration fees to be completed before classes start. Items players need to have on court for instruction: tennis racquet, wear court shoes (no black soles), hat or sun visor, and a water bottle. Note: Rain date make-ups will be scheduled on regular class days the last 2 weeks in May.

Location: Cox Park Tennis Courts from 4 – 7 p.m. MJ & Tony will be on site along with Park Staff to answer questions, provide an opportunity to sign-up for Spring Clinics and Leagues and some fun interactive events on the court.

ADULT CLINICS
Thursday’s & Friday’s on Courts 5 & 6 at Cox Park (Note: No class on April 2nd -Good Friday~ Make-up date May 21st).

Beginner Tennis – Thursday @ 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This class is for ladies that have never played tennis. We will cover the basics of rules, strokes, & point play with major emphasis on rallying exercises. Advanced Beginner – Thursday @ 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Must have completed a session of beginner classes or ladies who have been out of tennis a while and need a refresher course. Focus on basic strokes and on double strategies with live point situations. Women 2.5-3.0 level – Friday @ 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. This clinic is for ladies who are playing competitive USTA tennis or who have completed an Advanced Beginner course. You should be able to execute rallies with a partner, have a solid swing technique, and be ready to learn more advanced doubles strategies. Coed Cardio Tennis – Friday @ 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon This class is for everyone but the Beginner player. This is a fast-moving class with drills that will definitely get your heart pumping. We play a variety of music to keep you moving and grooving during the workout.

3rd ANNUAL TENNIS BLOCK PARTY
3rd Annual Tennis Block Party will be held Saturday, May 8th. Youth and Adult events start at 9 a.m. at Cox Park Tennis Courts. Registration forms will be available at the Tennis Night in America event on March 1st and on Parks website www.collierville.com . Pre-register by May 6th to be entered in a prize drawing at the event. Family Fun event for all ages! Tennis is a lifetime sport for all ages! Free Event!
Tennis Leagues Spring 2010
Daytime/Evening Leagues ~ Begin week of March 22nd League fees: $25 per person per league (After March 12th a late fee of $10) *Note league schedules are formatted the week of March 15th!
Monday ~ 2.5 Mixed Partner Doubles ~ 9:30-11:00 a.m. *This league is for players who are USTA rated 2.5 level or players who have never been rated. This league is not for the true beginner.
Monday Night Women’s Doubles ~ Beginner Recreation from 7:30-9:00 p.m. All beginner players or USTA rated 2.5 may sign up for this league.
Tuesday Women's Singles ~ 2.5/3.0 Level from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. & 3.5 Level 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Leagues are for players playing at either the 2.5-3.0 or 3.5 USTA levels of play. Only 3.0 players that can truly compete at the higher levels should sign-up for the 3.5 level. Note: Based on sign-ups at each level and number of courts needed to hold each league the 3.5 Singles could possibly play at 9:30 a.m.).
Tuesday Night Women’s Intermediate Doubles ~ 3.0 and above USTA Doubles from 7:30-9:00 p.m. *Any player with a USTA at 3.0 and above rating may participate in this league.
Tuesday Night Women’s Singles (all levels) from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Thursday Night Doubles ~ Recreational Mixed Doubles from 7:30-9:00 p.m. *Grab your husband or special someone and sign up for open play. All levels welcome.
Friday ~ 3.0 Mixed Partner Doubles from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. * This league is for players who are USTA rated 3.0 and above.
Friday ~ 3.5 Mixed Partner Doubles from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. *This league is for all 3.5 players and above. Only the strongest 3.0 players should consider signing up for this league as it is a competitive one.

*Special note to all leagues. To maintain the integrity of our leagues in Collierville, please make every effort to play at your USTA level. If you decide to play "up" in a league, you must be within a ".5" rating of the league you sign up for. For instance, a strong 3.0 may decide to play "up" in the 3.5 league, but a 2.5 USTA rated player may not.
