JUNIOR TENNIS CLINICS - Tennis instructor, MJ Garnett, will offer fall
tennis clinics for beginning to intermediate level players ages 6 &
older. Registration will be held August 1- 24.

Preschool
PRESCHOOL PLAYTIME - Playtime in the gym for toddlers and preschool
children will continue through May 22 on Tuesday & Thursday from 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Equipment is provided for play; parents must supervise. Great way for little
ones to play together when the weather outside is cold or rainy. Program will
stop for the summer on May 22.
KINDERDANCE
Blends creative movement, gymnastics, fitness and motor skills. Certified
instructors. Call Carrie Armstrong at 335-0015 for more information.
Due to construction at the Community Center, all classes will be held at
FunQuest Bowling Center (440 Hwy 72) in the large classroom (to left upon
entering the building).

a new facility at 3200 Brother Blvd. in Bartlett. A new hunter education class
will start the first Tuesday of every month. Call 213-3124 for more information.

facility in Bartlett.)
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Please arrive by 5:45 p.m. for the first class!)

No registration taken. Open to the first 150 people present. Bring pencil,
notepad & social security card.
PITNER DRIVING SCHOOL - The program consists of 30 hours of classroom
instruction and 6 hours of actual driving. Must be at least 15 years old
before/during the session. Registration begins July 1.
Date: September 29 - October 10, Monday - Friday
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Summer Camps
SUMMER DAY CAMP - Recreational program for children ages 5 - 11 (must have
completed kindergarten). Includes games, crafts, special theme weeks, field
trips, special event days on-site and more!

Fees: $275/residents (per session) & $300/nonresidents (per session)
NEW! For 2003: $80/weekly fee (only 12 spots
available per week)
Registration: April 28, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (After this date, registration will be
taken M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. until full.)
MEMPHIS COLLEGE OF ART SUMMER CAMP - Children participate in 2 separate
courses - Draw Paint Create and Adventures in 3-D. Camp has limited

SENIOR ADULT RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
SENIOR EXERCISE - Come workout with a very active group of people who enjoy walking,
physical fitness/toning/chair exercises, balance exercises, line dancing and more!
Everyone goes at their own pace. What a great way to meet new friends. Free! Taught by
Town Recreation Staff. Class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday (year round) 9-9:30 a.m. Walking begins at 8:00
a.m. Mon-Fri at the Collierville Community Center.

AARP 55 ALIVE DRIVING COURSE -Register at the Community Center. Contact Alan Babbin at 861-1144

BRIDGE ~ The bridge group plays the first Wednesday of each month 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

SENIOR BOWLING LEAGUE ~ If you are interested in playing in a bowling league on
Friday mornings at 10 a.m., contact Funquest Bowling Lanes at 850-9600 for more
information.
AARP CHAPTER #4250 ~ Group meets at the Community Center the second Tuesday of each
month at 2 p.m., except for quarterly months of March, June, September, & December
when they meet at noon for a potluck lunch. Contact AARP President George Howe at 854-4891
for information. Visitors are welcome!

SENIOR ADULTS SPECIAL ACTIVITIES/TRAVEL PROGRAM
Please read the details of each trip! The deposit and trip
deadlines are final! We must have solid numbers on the deadline dates in order to finalize
plans. Some of our trips will have a refund policy (trips booked with travel agencies that
carry travel insurance) and small day trips that are scheduled by the department will have
deadline dates to meet minimum number required for trips; once payments are sent into hold
reservations for hotels, buses, and tickets for events there will be no refunds! We look
forward to a fun and exciting 2003 with you! If you need additional information or
want to register for one of the following trips or give ideas on future trips, contact

July 22 - Redbirds Game Days: Game times are
at 7 p.m. Bus will depart from Collierville at 5 p.m. and from Germantown at
5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 (includes transportation and game ticket). Deadline to
sign-up is 2 weeks prior to travel date.
August 21 - Scrapbooking Class & Luncheon: Participants
will make 2 scrapbook pages so bring a few photos (that relate to a
particular event). Tools and paper will be supplied. Spaghetti
luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and scrapbooking class at 1 p.m. Cost is $8.
Deadline to register is August 13. Event will be held at the
Germantown Pickering Center.
September 6 - 13 - Alaskan Cruise: Join our travel group
and cruise to Alaska aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Radiance of
the Seas. Trip highlights: Fly into Vancouver and board ship for
7-night cruise along the Inside Passage, cruise the Hubbard Glacier, ports
of call in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. Call Lisa for trip
brochures, prices, and to make reservations. A $250 deposit is due
when reservations are made and final balance is due by June 1, 2003.
September 23 - Memphis Zoo: Come join us and visit
newcomers Le Le and Ya Ya in their new home. Cost will include zoo
admission, panda ticket, lunch and transportation. Register by
September 8. Fees will be announced in August newsletter.
October 16 - Tipton County Day Trip: The day will be spent
browsing a unique gift shop, the Rose Garden, for a Christmas Open House.
Then onto the Tipton County Museum Veterans Memorial and Nature Center
followed by lunch at the Main Street Antiques and Tea Room. After
lunch, the group will head to Ripley for a self-tour of the Lauderdale
Gardens (a local winery famous for unique tomato wines). Watch for
more details in August newsletter.
November 10 - Stamping Activity and Holiday Lunch: Learn
the creative art of stamping at 10 A.m. followed by a catered lunch at 11:30
a.m. Participants will make 4 stamped crafts to take home or give as
gifts for the holiday season. All supplies will be furnished.

March 8 - 18, 2004 - Reflections of Italy:
Highlights of this trip include Rome, Colosseum, Assisi, Perugia, Siena, San
Gimignano, Florence, San Marino, Ravenna, Venice and Como. Cost is
from $1999 per person based on double occupancy. Airfare from Memphis
and 13 meals (8 buffet breakfast, 5 dinners) are included. An
Informational Meeting is scheduled for August 29 at 1 p.m. at the Pickering
Center in Germantown.
